Flogging a dead horse
Those relentless eBay-watchers over at El Reg found another gem today: a dead horse. It came with no description, so we are sadly unaware of the cause of death, but the seller was happily willing to answer questions.Unfortunately the listing has now been removed by eBay (perhaps the animal was not dead after all?), but bidding at the time of the article was £0.01 with nine days to go. Bargain.

Student loses out in 49p TV 'deal'
A student who bought 80 28" televisions and DVD players for 49p each this weekend is set to be disappointed: Argos, the company advertising the deal on its website, made a "genuine internal error" in pricing the package – it should have been £350.As a result, it is refusing to honour the deal and thousands of customers are having the 49p payments refunded.

A research student at MIT in America has invented an animatronic squirrel that sits on your desk and deals with your mobile phone calls by working out how important they are, and whether or not you're busy or asleep.Most importantly, rather than having an annoying ringtone it waves and moves about. It can also talk to callers.
Volunteers spend weekend in zoo enclosure
A veterinary student is among volunteers taking part in a "human zoo" exhibition at London Zoo this weekend. Eight humans were picked from dozens of internet applicants to sit around on the zoo's Bear Mountain wearing fig leaves.There is surely a perfectly logical reason for doing this, but the London Zoo spokesman didn't appear to give one.

News from the daft marketing stunts department... A US town is being offered the chance to give all of its residents free satellite television for a decade - so long as it changes its name to DISH. The change would have to be legal and affect signs, government buildings and post offices.20 Aug

Much merriment in Los Angeles where a cute and cuddly seven-foot alligator has been roaming around for over a week, so far outwitting the people trying to catch it.Authorities say it might be an abandoned pet.

Randy donkey exiled
"A randy donkey has been banished to a deserted island after harassing female donkeys at a Croatian national park," Ananova reports.Tourists were apparently complaining that the donkey spent all of its time trying to have sex with the other donkeys, who consequently went into hiding.

Driver requests tape to fix train
A driver issued a call for sticky tape after the train he was driving broke down, the BBC reports. The Midland Mainline train had a problem with an exterior air pipe, which the driver tried to fix but required something to hold it together.Nobody on board answered his call.
