Student auctions forehead on eBay

An American student has auctioned off space on his forehead on eBay. Andrew Fischer from Omaha received over 100 bids for the opportunity to tattoo a non-permanent logo or website address on his head for 30 days. He intends to use the money to help pay his college fees.

It's not yet known how many – if any - of the bids were serious, but the winning bid was $30,000 (£17,000). That one at least seems to have been a joke and the auction has now been re-listed for another attempt. This time Mr Fischer is being more careful about who he allows to bid – at the time of writing, pre-approved bidders have just got started and it has already reached $100.

Mr Fischer himself is meanwhile getting huge amounts of media attention, with interview requests coming in from around the world. He told the BBC that he was open to having almost anything put on his forehead, except "a swastika or anything racial", anything "socially unacceptable" like adverts for adult shops, or "666, the mark of the beast".
