Motions, elections and bingo with pensioners

Following a brief review of day one, it was back down to work again, debating motions on ensuring equality of access for disabled students for all students union activities, entertainments and sports clubs. Much was made of BUSA (British University Sports Association) not having a competitive league for disabled students.

Following caucuses for committee posts for LGBT, Women and Further Education students, it was off to beautify ourselves for the fantastic ball that had been prepared for the evening. People were dressed in their glad rags for a spectacular meal. What we got was food of a distinctively average nature, and the disco would have been better if people had danced. And the music had been better.

I have the feeling the atmosphere had been stopped at the entry by security. Feelings of guilt overcame me - the DJ appeared quite lonely and lost, sitting alone playing Bonnie Tyler on his oversized stage.

Joining the pensioners' holiday group for a game of bingo and watching the cabaret seemed quite appealing. Thank goodness for the satellite TV.
