Lincoln Union President quits job

The President of Lincoln Students' Union has resigned by "mutual agreement" due to "irreconcilable differences". In a press release issued today, the Union said that its Co-operative Board recently accepted Adam Heyhurst's resignation with effect from yesterday.

Rather than putting it to a vote, the supposedly ultra-democratic Union's Directors instead decided that the current VP Communications, Dean Eldredge, would fill the position until the end of the academic year. His old job is now to be outsourced to an unknown "professional consultancy" at an unknown cost.

"The University and the Students' Union Co-operative are both committed to working together to ensure that all students have the best possible experience and we believe that the ULSUC team remains on track to deliver this," gushed AU & Societies President Phil Bell in the release.

"Dean Eldredge was the obvious choice to take on this role as he proved his abilities when undertaking the role in Mr Adam Heyhurst's absence."

So, as is to be expected, neither the reasons for nor the financial implications of Mr Heyhurst's resignation – and apparent absence – have been disclosed to union members. Not that that appears to concern Lincoln's students: the hot topic, insofar as three replies can make it hot, on the official magazine's message board at the time of writing was library opening times, with one user having helpfully commented, "WTF y would you want to go to the library? NERDS".

Sounds like the professional consultancy has its job cut out.
