'Vote fraud' hits Birmingham NUS elections

Exclusive: Officials at the Birmingham University Guild of Students (BUGS) have annulled elections for next week's NUS extraordinary conference following allegations of fraud on a grand scale.

The Rundown has learned that in the preliminary results candidates supported by the Birmingham University Islamic Society (BUISOC) secured all 14 of the elected delegate places. This was considered highly anomalous given the strong historical support for candidates from other societies in such elections.

Allegations of ballot fraud, voter intimidation and other incidences of campaigning outside the rules have been lodged with officials. Fresh elections will be conducted this week.
