York strikes again at Guardian Student Media Awards
York Vision has broken all records by winning the title of student newspaper of the year for the third year in a row at the Guardian's student media awards. Its editor, Jon Bentham, also picked up the gong for journalist of the year – something his predecessor managed last year as well.
Jacob Mukherjee of Nouse, which is also based in York, was student diversity writer of the year.
Magazine of the year went to Isis at Oxford, while Ruaridh Arrow from the Glasgow University Guardian was made the Sky News reporter of the year; and Esther Teichmann from the Royal College of Art in London won student photographer of the year.
Thomas Whipple from the Cambridge Student collected the award for student feature writer of the year for the second year in a row.
The panel judging the awards included the editors of the Guardian and the Evening Standard, the presenter of Channel 4 News and comedian Dave Gorman. Among the prizes were cash, flights and work experience.
