Half of tutors ignore cheating
Over half of Britain's university tutors have ignored suspected cheating by students, new research has revealed. Staff at UCL and Hertfordshire University found that 51% admitted to taking no action when they believed students had plagiarised or colluded in preparing their work.
The research also found that collusion, where students work together on work that should be done individually, is seen as more acceptable than plagiarism, where work is copied without credit.
The report was published in THES today.
