Finding Neverland
Listen up folks because I will only say this once: please forget how sick you are of Kate "Boobies" Winslet and remember the last Johnny "Scissors Hands" Depp movie you saw. There were many reasons why I was apprehensive about watching this film, not least because it had a very odd cast but also because of its deep connection with Peter Pan. I was however rewarded with a delicious array of visionary prowess the likes of which I am sorry to say has been back-shelved for the more popular computer animated films. Go and see this movie.
Alfie
Next up, Alfie. If you haven't seen the original it does not matter, this is an independent film which is mildly entertaining throughout and is much more one for the guy who thinks he's the bee's knees. It has its quality moments and its very sexist parts, which are no more than a lame attempt at propelling the myth that Jude Law has half the charisma of Michael Caine in the original. This film is worth a gander.
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
Last and least is the latest Hugh Grant typecast monologue. Suffice to say it is not my cup of tea. This film has an all too familiar feel, it is basically a second part to the first film but it lets down in many ways the quality of the book (or so I hear). If you liked the first one then go and see this because you'll lap it up, but if you're a guy take your girl (you may get some reflected kindness upon your return home) and a carefully-concealed Gameboy.
