Russell Group
The Russell Group is an organisation of 19 British universities. All are research-intensive and are often seen as the elite institutions. The group was first convened at the Hotel Russell in London in 1994, and is made up of the heads of the institutions listed below. Along with this core group, there are a number of sub-groups.
The Russell Group aims to further the interests of those universities where both teaching and learning is undertaken within a culture of research excellence. It also seeks to find new ways of organising and managing such institutions to improve their research activities.
