The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE as it is more commonly known) is responsible for allocating public funds for university and college teaching and research within England.
Its overall aim is to ensure that high quality education and research are achieved at a price that is financially efficient. HEFCE also plays an important role in ensuring accountability as well as acting as promoters of best practice within the Higher Education sector.
