The organisation aims to uphold the motto "And hold fast the rope of Allah, all of you together, and be not disunited" (Quran 3:103).

The website of FOSIS contains a detailed statement of aims and objectives, which include:

  • Uniting UK and Irish Islamic societies around the principles of the Muslim faith.
  • Encouraging the establishment of and providing support to existing Islamic organisations within the education sector.
  • Protecting and promoting the interests of Islamic students.
  • Developing the understanding, character and skills of Muslim students.
