Sabb

A student who has been elected to take a year (or more) out to serve in a paid position within his or her students' union. The term is misleading, because it usually happens after the student's degree has been completed. Rather than being for research or travel, as with a lecturer's sabbatical year, most would say that it is hard work and anything but a holiday!
